If you're not reading this guy at ESPN.com, you're missing some solid intellectual writing. Seriously, he covers football, too, but also physics, creation, and anything else he fancies that week. I wrote him some fan mail.

Is anyone else sick of Al Michaels totally missing a call? Time and again, he seems totally intent on not seeing in a replay what everyone at home is seeing. For example, he loves saying how people are out of bounds when they're clearly in (or didn't even catch the ball, making his entire argument irrelevant). Or he loves saying how receivers had control of a ball, even though they weren't even inbounds when they caught it.

The Yanks recently hired Joe Girardi. The press poo-pooed Don Mattingly because he supposedly has no coaching experience. The Yanks made the right decision, but the press got the Mattingly angle wrong.

This probably deserves its own article, but anyone notice that the Red Sox came back to win against Cleveland after being down 3 games to 1... after enjoying a day off? The day off came between games 4 and 5 at Cleveland when normally they wouldn't have had a day off. But scheduling quirks gave them the rest and may have helped shift momentum back to the Sox. Days off allowed the Sox to beat the Yanks in '04 (rain out) and Detroit to beat the Yanks in '06 (rain out again). That's my theory and I'm stickin' to it.

Welcome to Dime Brothers' first Scrum of the Week article. A concept born in the leagues of the greatest fantasy sports players in the history of the game... and brought to you now after years of fine-tuning, decades of analysis, and centuries of blah blah blah.... It's just an article so American football fans of bad teams have something to look forward to and read.

In reference to the 2007 MLB playoffs: "We're headed for a Red Sox-Yankees Armageddon in 10 days. It's going to happen. Start stockpiling canned goods and beef jerky now."

I'm copying and pasting this messily. The important thing to notice is that this in-game box score of the Pirates vs. the Cardinals has one Pittsburgh pitcher named "N Available". I'm assuming the person entering the info didn't know the pitcher's name...

Pittsburgh Pirates
Pitchers IP H R ER BB SO HR PC-ST ERA
B Bullington 3.0 7 5 5 2 1 1 63-41 15.00
J Van Benschoten 1.1 6 5 5 2 1 0 41-24 10.86
J Grabow 0.2 5 2 2 0 1 1 26-17 3.64

I've resigned from fftoolbox.com. The fantasy football world will now come to a screeching halt.
