Yahoo Movies article mentions modern movie classics (90s and 00s) to watch. The Bourne Ultimatum is included.
The movie Bullitt, starring Steve McQueen as Frank Bullitt. Famous for a car chase that is totally overrated. Not great dialogue. Interesting "get-a-witness-that-the-mob-wants-dead-to-testify" plot that has been rehashed by a zillion movies since. If this movie were redone today it'd be about 25 minutes because there are a bunch of shots of people walking that just waste time (although I suppose the director was trying to set the mood or ambiance or something).
Not worth watching, even from the "trying to watch old movies and get 'cultured'" angle.
The movie "17 Again" was actually pretty decent. Kudos to the script writer.
It's time for another movie review. I'll give you one guess what I thought of it...
Not good. Interesting, but that's the best I've got. A few plot holes, even given the fantasy/sci fi nature of the flik. Unique story line; at least it wasn't about a super-secret government-funded special squad of super fighters doing whatever. I couldn't help but feel like I wanted to leave the movie for a minute to jog over to the fridge, or pick up a phone call or something. Especially not recommended for those who get queasy even at the sight of a needle or a little surgery.
So I'm watching Rocky IV on Ion tonight, the big fight scene at the end, second round. And what has Ion done??? They've edited the lead-up to the punch Rocky throws to cut Drago, such that they've drained most of the emotional buildup! Certainly whoever did that hack job hasn't watched the movie enough to appreciate the most amazing scene in the movie!
Here are 5 movies I really like including links to imdb pages and embedded movie previews.
I put the Gran Torino movie preview on the main page. Not that I fully endorse any rated R movie, but this thing looks pretty cool.
On another note, the ESPN widget is again having issues. Oh well. Maybe they'll fix it soon (their fault, not ours).
This is a movie review article. Or a treatise on wasting time. Both apply.
There's an issue with the continuity between Terminator 2 and The Sarah Connor Chronicles. And another T2 wrinkle that I've never seen mentioned...
